Creating a MySQL Database with cPanel 10
Installing a database backend for a simple web forums or content management or similar applications is not that difficult using script installers like Fantastico, Elefante, etc.. Everything is integrated that by running the script installers the required backend database is installed altogether. But one will be forced to install the database manually if the applications are not supported by script installer. Thus, outlined here are the steps in manually installing MySQL Database on a paid hosting service with CPanel 10.
Creating a Database:
The steps involved in database creation
1. Create a Database
2. Create a User
3. Assign a User to a Database
Login to CPanel 10 using a browser. The link would look normally like domainname.tld (eg. cpanel.techxplore.net) or domainname.tld/cpanel/ (techxplore.net/cpanel/). Select Database Administration menu MySQL Databases.
On the MySQL Account Maintenance create a create New Database by typing the database name in the input field and click Create Database button. The database creation is deemed successful when created database will be listed above as one of the Current Databases available.
Create user by entering the Username and the Password in the fields provided and click the Create User button. After which the created user will appear in the list of Current Users available.
The last step is to Add Users To Your Database in the Users drop down list select the recently created user and in the Database select also the database you would like the user to be added to.
Don’t forget to assign the corresponding Privileges that particular user have on your database. Next click the Add User To Database button.
That concludes the step in creating a MySQL Database with cPanel 10.
