Faster Windows Startup by Loading Only Necessary Fonts

I have written before on the subject of Unnecessary Font Causes Sluggish Windows Startup. This time we will see what are some of the things that we can do to attain faster Windows start up.

The process somehow requires a knowledge on know how to view/locate the fonts that the system currently supports.

Steps in viewing/locating fonts installed:

  1. Select Start -> Control Panel
    Control Panel window is opened.
  2. Double click on the Fonts icon.
Fonts window will be opened showing the list of the fonts currently installed.

Fonts Window

After viewing/locating your fonts you might conclude that your Windows system most likely have some fonts that you’ll never use. So, keep in mind that the lesser fonts you have in the Windows Fonts folder the better startup time you’ll have.

Deleting the fonts not frequently used would sometimes not be a good idea as you’ll never know you might need it in the future. A good idea would be to store unused fonts in a different folder. In the future, when the need arises just copy the ones you need back into the Windows system Fonts folder.

True that the fonts will still consume disk space but it won’t affect your Windows performance during startup. Good luck.

What fonts are most used when browsing internet? Anyone who has a cookie cutter font folder?
