A PC without a Keyboard
Imagine running a PC without a keyboard. Maybe you would ask what’s the use of a PC without a keyboard? It might be less useful. There are a number of reason for it. One might need to protect one or more servers in the office from ordinary users. Thus removing the server’s keyboard. Another is there’s no more keyboard in the office?
We always have them in excess.
Simply removing the keyboard will not restart the computer successfully the next time around. The computer will return an error and the system will not start. This is because the power on self test (POST) will interact with the keyboard controller and will check if the keyboard is working/attached properly if it cannot find one working properly it will show an error message.
If you really need to run a pc without a keyboard you could set the CMOS to disable the keyboard. Doing so will tell the POST not to perform the keyboard test, which will consequently allow the system to startup even without a keyboard attached.
A pc without a keyboard could still be used via remote interface through network connection which is normally done by PC administrators. I think it’s one of ways to make it difficult for users to access PC’s.
