Checking Alexa Rank without Installing a Toolbar

When I started out blogging my blog mentors shared to me about this Alexa Rank. I don’t really know what it is. I knew later that it’s a ranking based on web traffic. I am monitoring from then on how www.techxplore.net’s Alexa Rank progressed from 8 Million to about 800 Thousand after four (4) months. I don’t know how fast it will take normally for other sites but I guess it depends much on the reach and on the page views. It’s interesting to note that the way I first checked the Alexa Rank of my site was through a Firefox browser add on. Little did I know that it can be checked also via a direct address on the net: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=www.techxplore.net

The browser add-on proved to be more useful as it shows the Alexa Rank of various sites visited and a little nice graph of the pages ranking at the status bar. One can easily compare the ranks of different sites. If you want a side by side comparison of the ranks of various sites you can go to Alexa’s page and there is a facility to input five (5) sites for comparison at the same time.

You can have a choice in checking your Alexa Rank by direct browser address or via a toolbar but for me I will go for a tool bar.
