5 things you’ll regret while working on a computer data
Day in day out, I am working with computers; Through the years I have experienced on-site and remote support on some challenges in handling computer data. I outlined some of the things which one might encounter that could be avoided.
- You’ll regret if a computer virus/worm hits you. Virus spreads quickly around the globe they hit any time of the day. Don’t be fooled by a virus scanner. It’s not a 100% guarantee for continuous data protection. It’s only as good as the cure getting ahead of the virus.
- You’ll regret if your harddisk suddenly honks. Hard drives or disk storage have motors and mechanical parts that wears over time. When they become noisy; it’s a bad omen. You can get a professional data recovery service but it’s very expensive.
- You’ll regret if your computer was hacked. There are backdoor virus/trojans that allow hackers to have full remote access on your computer. We don’t know what’s the full intent and what they’ll do with your computer. A determined hacker could break a computer system be it windows or linux.
- You’ll regret if your computer suffers a software bug. A glitch in the program can cause system crash which might render you to reinstall the system. Sometimes this happens after a software upgrade or system update. Important data might be lost in the process.
- You’ll regret if your computer gets a user error. Sometimes users cause accidental deletion of file or data. Users select wrong configuration choice for software/hardware setup. Users accidentally tripped off power cables, spill drinks, stumbled upon the computer, etc. I think this is the most interesting one; nobody would like to admit the blame.
One solution to all of this is to have an online backup. Remote backup has become popular in the past few years. The main advantage of this system is that the security feature is more far better than an in house data security. It’s cheaper than having an in house back up and recovery because of the absence of maintaining a lot of hardware and experts. The recovery process is also easy and quick. There are many companies that specialize on this service which provide continuous data protection, file synchronization, remote access and more. Consider online remote backups it might actually be the solution to your data protection needs. If you have it you’ll have peace of mind working on a computer data.
