People that are into monetizing their blogs or websites are rumbling about Alexa Rank. So what is really Alexa Rank all about? In plain terms, it is a ranking system which is used by tech savvy people like webmasters, advertisers and ad networks to gauge the worth of a website. By that said it has become an online parameter for some in monetizing websites or blog. The lower the Alexa Rank value the higher is the traffic to that website the better.

Some use Alexa ranking combined with Google’s PageRank and other page popularity meters like technorati to get an over-all feel of the value of a site. Just imagine if you were shopping online from which company, will you buy from a 1,000,000 Alexa Rank site or a 100,000 Alexa Rank site? No doubt, you would be swayed to buy from the site with higher Alexa ranking. Why? Because it appears that more people visit and buy from there due to the traffic rank reported.

Some people argue that Alexa rankings are meaningless and over valued. Others say that it could be manipulated. I don’t want to refute that but whatever the case may be I would rather have a higher rank compared to a low one.
