Increase Disk Performance by Defragmenting
Hard disk are a common data storage system. The reality of storing data on a hard disk is that it takes space and when the data is deleted or moved it leaves some “holes” or fragments of unused space. This fragments of unused space cause the reading or access of information much slower. Thus, defragmenting is needed to increase disk performance.
For small hard disk it’s okey to use a disk defragment software built-in Windows system. It’s not always advisable to run a defragment program if the percentage of fragmentation is not that bad. There is a software to analyze first the disk for defragmentation. If it’s really that bad then one could run a defragment program.
To make the task easier, normally defragment programs are run on schedule on non-peak hours. A good start would be to runĀ a schedule for defragmenting once in a week during early mornings before you start work.
