Computers Help in Delaying Loss of Mental Abilities

The brain is like a very power computer. In fact, it can work faster than regular computers. There are even research projects devoted to creating a super computer that can mimic the power of the brain. This might be sounding far fetched to some but it’s within the offing. Human brain is very powerful and normaly a small percentage of it is used. Thus, we could hear people bombarded with constant stress experience burn out or brain overload. Maybe some heart failure will result if the brain is not trained to take much information for processing.

There is this study that people in the later stage in life tend to loss mental abilities or what is known as dementia. This phenomena increases considerably with age.

Dementia symptoms include common task like losing items, getting lost in places, miss appointments. It could also in a form of trouble with driving, cooking, or even difficulty in understanding news, books, or movies. Understanding dementia or memory loss is a path to taking the right approach in having some treatment. Some approach use yoga, mind exercises, medicine, or a combination of everything.

Like a computer, the brain could be re-programmed. A dementia treatment using some computer programs to stimulate the brain would be one approach also. There are even solitaire-like computer game that are also used to determine early stages of dementia. In the future computers will play more and more role in the treatment of loss of mental ability.
