Nokia N96i Original Or Not

A few weeks ago, a friend told me about his latest Nokia N96i mobile phone. I strongly believed at first he’s just joking. Indeed what I saw is Nokia N96i. It has a sleek shape and a silver dull look. It doesn’t look as durable as N95, but the phone is full of exciting features. It’s a very light phone and maybe weights around 115 gms.

Some of the things that are present in the mobile phone are worth noting. Nokia N96i has a 3.5 inch TFT 262,000 Colors display touch screen which aids in viewing images and video clips. It comes with a 5.5 megapixel camera, bluetooth and Wi-Fi fuctionalities. Of course as a multi-media phone it has a player which supports MP4 & MP3 files.

My friend boasted that he spent around 100$ for the phone. I am just curious from where did he get such great mobile phone deals. I was wondering then if it’s really a genuine Nokia N series phone. After an inquiry from a Nokia dealer, I found out that such a phone doesn’t exist. To put it simply, the mobile phone is a fake and was manufactured somewhere else other than Nokia. That explains the cheap price tag on the phone, but I still have some doubts whether it will be worth spending on a phone as such without any assurance of its durability. It’s better to get the original ones and save yourself some headaches in the future.

The Nokia N61i is very common over here in Thailand and is available for about US$100.
It is a total fake made in China, but I know a couple of people who have had theirs for over a month now and are very happy with it.
