Insuring your laptop computer especially during travel is somewhat similar to getting children insurance to protect your child from experiencing a financial burden later in life. I pity my friend who lost his laptop during his travel to the middle east.
The risk of theft while traveling is very real. If your computer is covered by an international insurance then you could maybe at least get a brand new computer as a replacement when cases like that happens.
