CentOS A Red Hat Enterprise Linux Alternative For Oracle Database Server
I am looking for an alternative operating system to Red Hat Enterprise Linux for use as Oracle Database Server running Oracle Application Express 3.1. There are a number of choice which are certified by Oracle to run the Oracle Database 10g Release 2.
Operating systems certified for installation of Oracle Database 10g Release 2:
- SLES-9
- SLES-10
- Red Hat Enterprise AS/ES 5/Oracle VM
- Red Hat Enterprise AS/ES 4/Oracle VM
- Red Hat Enterprise AS/ES 3
- Oracle Enterprise Linux 5/Oracle VM
- Oracle Enterprise Linux 4/Oracle VM
- Asianux 3.0
- Asianux 2.0
- Asianux 1.0

The only database that comes with Oracle Application Express is the Oracle Database Express Edition. Though the Oracle Database Express Edition would be enough, but there is a limitation that the project created. CentOS is a viable alternative to Red Hat Enterprise Linux For Oracle Database Server as it’s a build based on that.
