Radiation Shielding Technology Experiments Database

There is so much tension around the world about nuclear reactors and the possibility of having this being used to develop a nuclear weapon. If you would watch the TV or listen to the news it seems that people are getting crazy about this. I have heard of people or some governments are maybe developing some underground nuclear shielding as a shelter in the event of a nuclear war.

When the topic about nuclear shielding came up; lead radiation shielding immediately came to my mind. I end up as a result on a site about radiation shielding and some experiment conducted on it. I am amazed that an online database of the experiments results could be found also in the French Nuclear Energy Agency website – http://www.nea.fr/html/science/shielding/index.html.

It’s been known in science class during high school days of lead to contain radiation, but with the recent advancement of technology maybe newer substances and materials could do the same with some lead substitutes. This is an interesting area of study and for doing research the Radiation Shielding Experiments Database (SINBAD) would be very useful.
