I have a short visit to our computer server room today and found that it’s growing in size. There are 4 racks that contain around 20-30 different kind of server and network related components.

Essential simple office computer server / network infrastructure:
- storage rack
- computer servers
- uninterruptible power supply
- KVM (display/monitor) switch
- router and switch

Below is a list of some computer and network components we use.

Computer servers:

- IBM Xseries 230 eserver

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS):

Display switch:
- Aten Master View KVM switch CS-82A
- Aten Master View Plus KVM CS 9134

Router & Switch:
- Cisco 2500 Series
- Cisco 7200 Server VXR
- Cisco Catalyst 4006
- 3Com Router

Those are some of the essential computer and network components we have at our server room. This is not an expanded or detailed list of the things inside a server room as there are many little things that are needed to make all of these work together.
