Zimbra Desktop Multi-Platform Free Web-Based E-mail Client
Yahoo has released the Zimbra Desktop which is based on the cloud computing concept of allowing people open their e-mail from any computer or mobile device. At first, I thought that Zimbra as a web-based email client would be accessible via a browser and just open a web address, but it’s entirely different. Zimbra comes as a downloadable e-mail client software application much like Thunderbird or Outlook, but actually it’s a browser based application using the power of AJAX technologies.
After installing, the software allowed me to open up my yahoo email and sync it with the mail server. I could then read e-mails even when I am offline. Zimbra offers options for basic word processing, spreadsheet, task management, calendar, contacts and file storage. The look and feel of the whole application is the same as that of the yahoo email interface that I’ve been using all along. This kind of software is really a first step of having Internet services substitute for local applications. Zimbra Desktop e-mail software runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux and is available for free download. You can try this promising software.
