Have you ever taken any Microsoft Course (or any other vendor’s) exams? They all offer to boost your real-world skills in IT. They even have certified communities to support participants, provide access to special resources, and offer a life-long career path of certification.

Certifications could actually be used to recognize or validate IT skills. If you take the exams you may feel like you’re missing something. The test questions are at first very different. Some of my friends fail on the first try. This might be because they had too much experience. One ends up arguing that many of the questions were wrong. Maybe the questions are too theoretical and this could be a possibility.

However, times are changing and the newer tests are much more applied and practical. One thing I am sure of is that certifications are good for boosting skills and good for work promotions. Certification provides added glitter to the Curriculum Vitae (CV) which opens up more opportunities and work offers. I think, everyone needs to upgrade skills and knowledge in the ever changing IT world.
