Brands And Relevance Essential In Increasing Search Engine PageRanks
The new wave of constant change in Google’s PageRank (PR) has hit websites hard. Content publishers are clamoring foul on this. Nobody is pretty sure what is behind slapping of PageRank. I have seen good sites that drop in PR without seemingly any reason at all, but not so fast.
Reading the Internet headlines one might get to understand what’s actually happening. Google’s CEO, Eric Schmidt has coined the Internet as a ‘Cesspool’ of information. The information arrived at by a person through search engine for example should be analyzed whether it is valid or not based on the source. It’s much similar to having a popular magazine versus that of a tabloid. Which one will you consider serious information? Schmidt added that brands are how you sort out from the pool of information.
Thus, Internet Branding is very important for a website to standout from among the millions of content in the Internet. From Google’s CEO point of view it appears that brands are the solution to the problem and not the cause of the problem. Strong brands will have more authority on the Internet. Authority of the website is based on the relevance of the content. It’s basically then branding and relevance as a way to increase ones ranking in the search engines.
Investing on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to push and create Internet Branding would be vital for success. Would you consider a website having more readers more relevant than another? Increase your Internet credibility or authority by carving your own brand through publication of relevant content. That’s it, I could not agree more on these points.
