Considering Oracle’s Peoplesoft Campus Solution As Our Student Information System
The institute where I worked with will be celebrating 50th year anniversary next year. There’s lots of activity related to the preparation and the celebration of the Golden Anniversary of the Institute. The times are evolving and the business are changing. Adopting to global changes would ensure survival of the institute for a long term.
I work in the Information System Unit of the institute and we have this Student Information System (SIS) to maintain which undergoes review every five years to adopt to the changes. The current Student Information System (SIS) for example become operational in August 2003 semester. At that time the institute have just started to use bi-semester instead of the old tri-term system.
The system was developed based on the requirement at that time. During the years, there were several changes in our policies as well as several new academic programs which are conducted in totally different ways than the conventional programs at that time. Thus we’re considering a replacement for the in-house built Student Information System.
Since, we’re using Oracle database products, Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other Oracle Financial Business Suite, we tried to explore on Oracle’s Peoplesoft Campus Solution package. This is mainly to maintain data integration. I’ll share more later on how do we go about this process of considering an alternative Student Information System.
