Database Connection Error Server down Due to Unusual Traffic Overload

Database Connection Error is the usual page that you’ll get when visiting www.techxplore.net these past few days. The reason for downtimes is traced to the unusual traffic overload of the database server. The network administrators are observing a pattern of an orchestrated DDoS (Database Denial of Service) attack that brought down the database servers.

It is widely known in the web hosting industry that there’s no perfect solution, so far, to the DDoS attack. The solution would be to implement procedures to prevent future DDoS attacks. The high usage request for resources caused the database server hardware to fail. Data loss is a primary concern, but usually there are server protection mechanisms in place to prevent loss of data.

Since, the old hardware could not be useable; the solution was to move the MySQL database to new server hardware. Migration of the database is needed and it would take sometime to complete. Hopefully with the new database server up the problem Database Connection Error would be gone. It’s a relief to learn that the web hosting company where www.techxplore.net is hosted has indicated of better services in the future.
