Computer Fingerprint Biometric Security Technology

Security is an area of hot interest especially in the information technology. There’s an increasing need for reliable security authentication everyday. If you’ve been watching spy movies there are facilities that are secured using biometric fingerprint lock technology. One needs to put a finger on a scanner for verification of the identity and the corresponding access to be given.

Biometric Fingerprint technology is not only a movie fancy thing, but an emerging next generation authentication method. We all know that a fingerprint is completely unique to an individual and remains the same for life. Thus, could be a very reliable instrument in identification and authentication. The same principle for biometric fingerprint is used in the old fashioned thumb mark which have existed for a long time to seal important documents.

I was reminded of my sister’s HP Pavilion dv2518 that have a biometric fingerprint scanner. This is useful way for authenticating any user of the computer. She complains about having been electrocuted by this scanner. So, it was covered and haven’t been used. This is a common reason from users. The good technology is not placed to work as designed. The setup for the security authentication is not quite clear for ordinary users. Thus, there’s fear of totally not being able to access the computer if the biometric fingerprint scanner would malfunction.

Computer fingerprint biometric security technology is getting more advanced. Most modern high end laptops for example have this biometric fingerprint technology installed as a standard feature. Biometric fingerprint technology is a modern way of authenticating complex and simple systems. Simple daily gadgets like laptops and mobile phones would in the future have more of this for security purposes.
