Replacing D-link DES-1008D 8 Port Computer Ethernet Switch for Home Use

Before the year 2008 ended, I did a little computer Ethernet hub shopping. I went to Pantip Plaza, in Thailand, before having a holiday trip to the Philippines. I bought a D-Link 8 Port 10/100 Unmanaged Ethernet Switch which is very cheap for only less than $15 US or 520 THB.

Since, I believe it’s a good bargain for completing my home network. This D-Link switch seems to be economical simple to operate, and flexible for different applications. I haven’t the box and went to a 3 week vacation in Manila and Negros Island, Philippines.

During my holiday vacation, I brought with me my Acer Aspire One. I would say that Internet connectivity is very important in my travel. I find using the WiFi technology most of the time. In remote areas I rely on a SmartBro HSDPA USB modem, but could not get a good signal from Punta Bulata white sand resort.

Arriving back in Thailand, I feel that a Wireless Network at home would be fitting than the Ethernet LAN Switch. A D-Link DSL-924 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL2+ Router with USB Adapter would be the right kind of device at home. Thus, I went to have the D-link DES-1008D 8 Port Computer Ethernet Switch still in the box from the shop in Pantip Plaza. I was told that the store replacement policy is only good for 1 week.

Whew! I don’t have much use for the D-Link DES 1008D 8 ports Ethernet Switch. Anyway, I’ll settle for D-Link DSL-924 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL2+ Router & USB Adapter for my home during the following pay day. Wireless technology router would be better if you have two or more laptops at home. Ethernet Network Cables running around the floor is not pleasant to look at and that made me decide to go for a Wireless Network Router.
