HTML 5 to bring Internet Web Development Advancements

It’s very interesting how new web technology evolve. There are standards that are being developed to advance web development. As a web developer, I would naturally want to stay on top of the latest advances in web development. If one would stick to use outdated techniques then they would surely easily left behind.

Some of us might be tied up with still with XHTML, but there’s a buzz around the upcoming HTML 5. The new release brings big revision to the markup language that everyone has known. I have seen for example Bespin Mozilla’s Open Source Web Based Code Editor which uses the power of HTML 5 canvas tag. Well, you might ask, is it the future of the Web? I am not really sure for now. But the question is do we need to jump on this HTML 5?

I definitely say that we should approach HTML 5 depending on what suits best for us in our work or what we’re doing. Maybe it would be good to start early on by experimenting on new commands. Launching a full website that is a HTML 5 ready would in my opinion little advantage as of now. The fact is that few users use an HTML 5 capable browser.

It might be good to experiment HTML 5 as of now on personal website or blogs. With this way you’ll learn new things to show case the potential of HTML 5. It would not be wise though to use it on client websites due to browser support. Some web development experts argue that HTML 5 just breaks good programming practice of separating content from layout.

HTML 5 for me is a bit too early to gauge. I’ll need more time to explore its capability, but I could see HTML 5 bring web development to a new level.
