A requirement for Internet website is data security. Securing data as it is transmitted through the Internet is a primary concern for e-commerce website or even an education website like ours. I could see that more and more people are being aware of the importance of safe browsing and transaction on the Internet. I don’t just go on the Internet and do online banking transaction without assurance that my transaction will be secure.

Https prefix in the address bar and padlock icon on the browser is primary checks for me prior to any submission of sensitive information online. It indicates that secure connection is in progress. I do online shopping a lot and I am wary of doing transaction on several e-commerce website that does not have basic security such as SSL Certificate.

SSL Certificates is an assurance that the data that I transmit over the Internet will be safe from hijacking or spoofing. I know that there are a lot of people who have bad intention on the Internet. Thus, a website that doesn’t have an SSL Certificate could turn away prospective customers. On many occasions, I left a website before signing up, purchasing, create an account, or do anything with it because I feel that the site is not safe to deal with.

Website SSL Certificate at least gives this assurance for me knowing that it does a lot of work on the background to ensure safe Internet transactions. It’s better to be safe than sorry later of giving away data on the wrong hands.
