H-Sphere Control Panel WebShell4 Could Not Upload WordPress 2.8 Zip File

WordPress 2.8 platform blog software was released recently. I need to upgrade WordPress to the latest version to have a blog which is more secure with better website design. It’s the first time that a WordPress installation software passed the 2 MB size mark with about 2.2 MB.

I got some problem uploading the zip file using the H-Sphere Control Panel’s WebShell4 web application. The UPLOAD button on the menu just don’t do anything after about 30 minutes of waiting. These things don’t happen on other web hosting provider. This might be specific to my particular web hosting provider.

Whenever these things happen, it would certainly make one think of getting a better hosting service provider. Web Hosting really plays an important role in a blog. Reliability, scalability, and flexibility are some of the major things I am keen about web hosting.

I could recall that there’s no problem previously with earlier versions of WordPress which is less than 2 MB. The only thing left to be done is to file a complaint the customer support about this unusual problem.

Investigation by the hosting provider pointed the upload issue to the upload file size PHP setting. The solution was to increase the “upload_max_filesize” parameter from 2 MB to 10 MB in the settings of the PHP application server. That solved the problem of unable to upload the WordPress 2.8 zip installation file.
